Short Bio
My academic background is in mathematics. I have three degrees from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto: BSc in Mathematics - Educational Branch, MSc in Mathematics - Fundamentals and Applications, and PhD in Applied Mathematics.
After 9 years of teaching mathematics, I obtained a PhD in Applied Mathematics at the Centre for Mathematics of the University of Porto.
In the following 3 years (2015-2018), I developed my research activities as a bioinformatics postdoc in two research centers: CIBIO-inBIO, and CBMA, Portugal.
In April 2018, I moved to INEB/i3S, Portugal, to work as a bioimage analyst.
In April 2022, I joined P95 as an Analytical Programmer. I work mainly in id.DRIVE, where I am one of the statisticians/data scientists in the team. I’m the lead statistician in one of the vaccine effectiveness studies currently undergoing, and I’m responsible for the collaborative platform management, ensuring coding best practices through the implementation of coding standards, version control (git / GitLab) integration, coding and QCing other team member's codes. I'm also frequently involved in knowledge sharing, via oral presentations or tutorials.
In my professional activities, I have interacted with over 100 collaborators, resulting in the co-authorship of more than 25 scientific papers, and I am the main developer of several software applications. I participated in 10 R&D projects (2 of which as co-PI) and supervised 6 MSc dissertations. I was the main organizer of the HEROHE grand-challenge with over 800 participants.
